When should you see a chiropractor about knee pain?

Knee pain can be incredibly painful and impact on even the most basic of things; picking up a bag, climbing the stairs and even getting in and out of bed.

It is perhaps more surprising then that many people will wait until their knee pain is excruciating before going to see a specialist. You should go and see someone should symptoms of knee pain fail to resolve, even more so if the pain just comes on without any trauma that might have caused it (such as a fall or banging it against a wall or desk).

When knee pain occurs, you have to decide whether you are content with the pain, or whether you want it solved. Pain should not generally be there long term so you should strongly consider the second option. As with most things, it can get worse, and painkillers may mask the problem but not solve it. Seeing a chiropractor will not only check the knee now, but will also help to uncover any underlying problems which might be causing knee pain. Just because the pain is in your knee doesn’t always mean that the knee itself is the source of the pain.

There are several things that need to be considered and a chiropractor, like Martin, Andrew or William, at The Morley Chiropractic Clinic will look at the issue from many different angles. These can include basic movement and flexibility, manipulation, looking around the area for swelling and much more. Every knee is different and thus only a thorough individual check will ascertain the problems.

You may be reading this and thinking well my knee pain is ok, it comes and goes, so I do not need to see a chiropractor. You should see a chiropractor as soon as the problem limits your ability to live your normal daily life. Furthermore, if it still isn’t getting better or healing with medication, self help options and rest, you need to go and see a specialist.
